Safari in South Africa: where to find some of the best beaches in the world

Safari in South Africa and we think you will agree with us that Cape Town has some of the best beaches in the world.

You can choose beaches that are in the Indian Ocean, with warm water, or those in the colder Atlantic Ocean. Neither coast is very distant from the other, so traveling between the two is easy by road or rail.

Most of the beaches, which stretch around the coast, are long and white sand. On some of the beaches like Muizenberg you will find lifeguards, so it is safe to navigate from them.

At other beaches, like Boulders Beach, you will find many animals. On Boulders Beach it is the African penguins that live there. Be careful, they can smell quite a bit and they sting if you get too close to them, but don’t let that stop you from diving into the water to swim with them. Penguins seem very tolerant of their sunbathing companions and are very happy to live in harmony with us. Let’s face it, where else can you get an experience like this?

Seals and fish abound, which in turn brings bird life. While we are sitting on the back deck of the house, we constantly see the most common birds such as turn, black-backed gulls, cormorants, but great excitement occurs when African pelicans come to visit. Huge jets of giant birds, floating serenely like the QE2 under full sail!

It seems that African pelicans like to come visit us overnight at dusk, staying overnight on the sandbar across the water. It’s almost as if they came for a night or a weekend. They obviously like the Hilton.

Other visitors that we love to see in our lagoon are egrets, herons and oystercatchers. Wonderful wading birds, all with their own characteristics, that you can sit and watch all day, just wading up and down, dancing their flirty dances to attract the fish, or at least confuse the fish enough that the bird drop your head suddenly. and pecking the fish straight out of the water and into your throat.

Beaches with facilities, life and people, beaches with nothing but birdlife. The choice is yours. You can often find beaches not far from the hustle and bustle and you don’t find a soul on them, real things from a desert island.

Spectacular scenery is also the norm on Cape Town’s beaches. Just think of Cape Town Bay with its flat-topped mountain in the background. In fact, the entire bay is one long sandy beach that stretches for miles around Table Bay.

Next time you’re thinking of taking a beach vacation, take a look at Cape Town, you won’t be disappointed.
