Shiba Inu – The feline dog, why are they so popular?
Shiba Inus are a delightful breed of dog. Small, brave, smart, energetic and loyal to the extreme. These puppies originated from Japan, in fact, they are the most popular breed of dog in Japan. After learning a bit about them, it shouldn’t surprise us.
Shiba Inu dogs are small, in fact most people are surprised when they see them in person as they are smaller than they appear in photos.
These pups don’t bark much, preferring a soft and gentle howl, although when they’re scared or just not getting their way, they do possess the dreaded “Shiba Scream” (they are so spoiled).
“Is your dog part fox?” That’s a comment that you may have to get used to too, they look a lot like a fox. Their behavior is very similar to that of a cat, they are very clean and they like to groom themselves and they are very independent. I have heard that some Shiba Inu puppies have even been taught to use a litter box.
Shiba Inu puppies are truly a handful, full of energy, curiosity, and stubborn. They love to chew, so have plenty of chews at your disposal. They will show a lot of love and be loyal companions. Despite their small size, these dogs are alert, brave, and strong, making excellent watchdogs for their size.
Beware, the Shibas will quickly make themselves loved in your heart and your family, sweet, adorable and charming.
With all of this going for them, it’s no wonder the Japanese love them. Now is the time for the Shiba Inu to take North America by storm!
