The Tokyo Olympics will take place without foreign spectators
The International Olympic Committee must formalize the decision of the Japanese authorities during the month of March.
The Japanese government has decided prohibit foreign spectators from traveling to Japan to attend the Olympic Games from Tokyo this summer. This measure is taken as part of the effort to prevent the spread of coronavirusofficials in charge of the matter announced Tuesday to the Japanese news agency Kyodo.
The Japanese organizing committee for the Tokyo Games is expected to hold a virtual meeting with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) during the month of March, in order to formalize the decision on the absence of the public coming from abroad.
The Games postponed for a year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, are to be held from July 23 to August 8.
