5 tips for raising happy children

Nurture and nature play an important role when it comes to parenting. There are several things that parents need to do to ensure that children are raised the right way. Parents need to make sure children get the right nutrients, get enough sleep, and stay healthy, both emotionally and physically. Here are some steps that can help you raise a happy child.

First, you need to let your child know that you are excited to see him when he walks into the room. You must let them see that light dance within your eyes when they look at you. You must be aware of their presence by showing them your smile and greeting them warmly. Shout their names out loud. Your son loves you more. And imagine the returns after a childhood full of love.

Second, you need to teach the child that it is okay to be bored. Yes, as parents, our normal instinct is to continue to entertain the child every hour of the day. If we don’t have the energy and time, we let the nanny do it on our behalf. However, when we depend on television, or any other form of entertainment, we only manage to limit the imagination of it. The child has a clear imagination that only flourishes when he is nurtured. But without opportunity for creativity, everything withers. Give the child a sheet of paper and crayons instead.

Third, the child must know that they are more vital than work. You must give the child tender loving affection. The child doesn’t just need you around. He or she needs you to be present. Therefore, play with the child. Find out what’s important to them by asking questions and be attentive to their answers. The child deserves a little bit of you every day. He must not allow his work to separate him from the child. Letting them know that they are important only makes them happy.

Fourth, you need to allow the child to make some rules. You don’t have to make them boss for them to feel empowered. Sometimes power struggles with children are the result of them feeling out of control. You can easily curb such instances by allowing the child to feel that he is making some decisions. This will make them follow the rules.

Lastly, you must model the appropriate behavior. Children usually do what they see, and not what they are told. When you need the child to consider others, you should do the same too. When you need the child to be happy, you should also smile without hesitation. You are the role model for your child.
