Bicycle messengers get 2.2 percent more wages plus more mileage allowance | Tyrolean daily newspaper online

Vienna – With retroactive effect from January 1st, the bicycle messengers will receive 2.2 percent more wages, the minimum gross salary is now 1,539 euros. In addition, the kilometer allowance has been increased from 14 to 24 cents per kilometer. “With the realistic assumption of an average of 1500 kilometers per month per messenger, this means an increase in the mileage allowance from 210 to 360 euros per month,” says Karl Delfs, Federal Secretary of the vida Road Division.

Since the kilometer allowance is tax-free, the drivers would come to a net wage of around 1500 euros. The agreement was preceded by a labor dispute at the Veloce courier service, which has now been resolved with the establishment of a works council. The conclusion of the collective agreement is above the plus 1.5 percent, which was largely the standard in the fall wage round 2020. The current inflation rate is 1.2 percent.

There is still no agreement with the temporary workers. As announced by the employers’ side today, the second round of negotiations on yesterday, Tuesday, remained inconclusive. As a recommendation from the employer, a wage increase of 1.45 percent is on the table. (APA)
