‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ is a lesson in teamwork

When the screen fills with the army of five characters who don’t have a single trait in common, even the softest skeptics are sure to harbor doubts about their capabilities. But all misgivings dissipate as the film progresses and the unlikely combination of five manages to save the galaxy from falling into the clutches of an autocratic tyrant.

Based on a comic strip of the same name, the movie ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ revolves around the main plot and although director James Gunn has kept all the main leads and also the supporting characters, he has deviated a bit from the plot. literary. To its credit, the deviation seems to have worked well in the sense that this audiovisual adaptation has an independent quality while drawing its identity from a well-known series.

The story begins with the theme of the alien abduction (courtesy of The X-Files), in which a nine-year-old boy is trapped by aliens outside his home as he mourns his mother’s death and turns into a happy, mean, and hopeless child. embargo. charismatic youth in a galactic city. Much of the first half of the film focuses on the development of each of the five characters in which the young man is portrayed as Peter Quill / Star Lord.

Forced by circumstances, he joins the ruthless green-skinned Zamora and the muscular Draz, who is deeply embittered by his tragic past. This trio expands into a quintet when Rocket Raccoon, an easy-to-shoot and easy-to-use rodent, and his self-proclaimed guardian Groot, a humanoid tree, also agree to contribute.

Could there be a more unlikely group of saviors? It’s hard to even imagine them together at first, but the cohesion with which they operate, support each other, and share a tacit understanding reflects exemplary teamwork. Each of these five characters retains their unique personality, but never stops contributing to the team when the situation calls for it. Thus, they could be described as clearly different from each other and yet united with one purpose in their goal of saving the galaxy, which is what teamwork is all about.

For viewers, there is a leadership lesson to be learned from Peter Quill as to how he balances the remaining four members and channels his talents to the benefit of the team. But the greatest lesson in friendship and loyalty is provided by Groot not only when he’s busy caring for Rocket, but also when he sacrifices himself to save his four friends from certain death by wrapping them in his invincible fold. As tragic as the consequence, your selfless act provides enough inspiration for others to wage this war until its purpose is served.

‘Unity in diversity and adversity’ is the message that emanates from this saga that takes place in the midst of the most overwhelming and surprising scenarios and is sufficiently peppered with humor, action and emotion. Yet despite all the spectacular technological effects, ultimately, it is the message of upholding friendship, trust, and the greater good above oneself that seeps in in the most subtle way possible. And each of the five warriors is attuned to respond to you in their own peculiar way, be it the eloquent Peter Quill or the reticent Groot with his varied intonations of ‘I am Groot’.
