AThe summit of the Tour de Bérinzenne, Franck Renard, a forest ranger for 25 years in the Spad region, contemplates the plain of the Fagnes de Malchamps. In recent days, 480 hectares of this protected site have obtained the status of “nature reserve”. A decision taken by the Walloon government on a proposal from the Walloon Minister of the Environment, Céline Tellier (Ecolo), who wishes to develop the number of nature reserves, at the rate of 1,000 hectares per year. A project that is part of the “360º Biodiversity” strategy for the preservation of natural and semi-natural spaces of great biological interest.

“This status is the culmination of a long effort to preserve and enhance the natural heritage,” explains Franck Renard. “It is a long-term protection tool because its duration is unlimited. “
