L'astéroïde le plus dangereux de 2021 "frôlera" bientôt la Terre

The most dangerous asteroid of 2021 will soon “graze” the Earth

This beautiful baby is called “2001 F032”, it measures between 0.767 and 1.714 kilometers (the equivalent of 5 Eiffel Towers) and moves at more than 34.4 kilometers per second, that is to say close to 100 times faster than the speed of sound.

With these characteristics, the asteroid is classified as “potentially dangerous”. Yet we have nothing to fear, no collision is possible with such a distance. “2001 F032” will even be observable for amateur telescope owners.

Its first appearance from Earth dates back to 2001 when it was spotted by telescopes in New Mexico. Two weeks ago another asteroid “2019 YP5” smaller than “2001 F032” had disintegrated between the Moon and the Earth, in contact with our atmosphere.

The next asteroids that will approach our planet have been listed at 95% by scientists. Paul Chodas, director of CNEOS, NASA’s Center for Near-Earth Object Studies, assures us that “none of them will hit us in the next century “.

There is still a tiny risk in 2185 … the asteroid “2009 FD” has a one in 714 chance of hitting the Earth, that is to say 0.2% of probability.
