Tomorrow, the Earth: in Libramont, miscanthus to preserve nitrate collection waters

AT As summer approaches, we understand more than at any other time the importance of having water in quantity and quality. However, groundwater water is very sensitive to the environment around it. In the province of Luxembourg, 21 of the 44 municipalities remain fiercely autonomous in terms of the collection and distribution of drinking water, the rest being managed by the Société Wallonne de Distribution de l’Eau (SWDE). Each communal catchment area is divided into zones: the water intake zone proper (generally fenced), the close protection zone and the remote protection zone which includes all the land located in the catchment catchment area. It is the Public Water Management Company (SPGE) which is in charge of financing the protection of these particular areas.
